Independence is a Planned Unit Development (PUD).

Independence stands out from the traditional neighborhoods in the SW Orlando area, as a result of the extent of preserved conservation areas, 1100 acres of lakes, 658 acres of parks and planned ammenities in comparison to other area communities in Orlando. No other community in this corner compares to Independence!
   

A future entrance to the 429 expressway is planned in the community. The entrance ramp is already there, but does not yet connect to Independence. Some of the ammenities that are already here include 14' walking/biking paths, 2 community pools, 2 play areas, tennis & basketball courts, a clubhouse with fitness room, a dog park, sidewalks & streetlights as well as other ammenities.
